Welcome to the Encyclopedia Galactica home page

Encyclopedia Galactica is a freeware planetarium program that allows the creation of different types of sky maps in which practically any element is customizable. In addition to this basic functionality, it also provides a number of tools such as:

Calculation of the positions of Jupiter and Saturn satellites.
Moon calendar and feature locator.
A solar system orrery.
An observing list manager.
Maintain a database of celestial objects images, with direct download from Internet.
An artificial satellite visibility predictor.
A facility to store Internet material to view it offline.
The visibility graph, to check the optimum time for observing an object.
The visibility predictor, to check the moment in which a given object will traverse a specific portion of the sky.
