The Ghost Project

The Ghost Project is a programme of research aimed at obtaining objective elements using appropriate technical instruments, for the evaluation of examples of hauntings and/or apparitions reported as occurring in various historic Italian buildings.

In particular our attention is currently focused upon two castles, namely Montebello Castle (Torriana- RN) and Bardi Castle (PR). These two edifices are manor houses over a thousand years old with colourful histories and wonderful impressive legends. Many of these legends include the testimonies of people, who claimed to have experienced anomalous events associated for example with apparitions or acoustic and olfactory phenomena.

Our inquiry, over a period of 20 years, had let us to dismiss some of the popular belief about these places. However, it has also provided us with much instrumental data (some of them stretch the bounds of credibility) that support the hypothesis of hauntings and apparitions.

This project has to be considered solely as cognitive research that had allowed us to assemble important useful elements that allow us to construct a base for the structuralization of future more focused inquiries that will lead to improvement in research methodology.
